A map, not the territory.

SHEMIM's breath-and-scent research is the working core of something larger: a connected set of frameworks spanning health, environment, ethics, governance and contemplative thought, built as one system rather than separate studies. This page shows the whole scope at a glance. SHEMIM does not host these frameworks; each is in development, with its own site to follow.

A note on register

The clusters differ in how settled they are. Some are active research; others are frankly proposals and provocations. We mark the difference rather than blur it, and we lead with the empirical core.

  1. Science & Breath : the engine

    The body broadcasts its state continuously; breath and scent are the headline signal. Biomimetic olfactory sensing, a scent-based index of well-being, and the microbiome and brain-plasticity work that surround it.

  2. Health & Rhythms

    Physiological well-being as a matter of restoring coherence between our biological rhythms and our environment: circadian timing, light, eating windows, water, the gut–brain axis, breath, movement, whole-food nutrition.

  3. Gender & Complementarity

    A view of male and female capacities as irreducible and complementary rather than interchangeable or ranked, worked out across biological and relational evidence, and extended into questions of governance and mediation.

  4. Ethics & Education

    Moral philosophy and human development: what genuine freedom requires, an ethics of obligation over entitlement, moral feeling as a form of knowledge, and an education built on wonder rather than compliance.

  5. Contemplative Thought

    The most explicitly spiritual cluster: symbolic and mystical reasoning rooted in a specific lineage while drawing across traditions; where the great traditions genuinely converge, and where their differences are real and respected.

    Where the implications get concrete: alternative economic models, governance at the scale of the city, ecological stewardship with real teeth, regenerative agriculture, and the conditions under which conflict gives way to cooperation.
