Accessibility Statement

SHEMIM is committed to making shemim.org accessible to the widest possible audience.

Conformance

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. Accessibility is built into the site rather than bolted on by an automated overlay.

The Accessibility Assistant

In addition to a baseline that already meets AA, every page carries a visible Accessibility Assistant (the control at the lower-left). It lets you adjust text size, switch on high contrast, and reduce motion. These are genuine user-preference controls that your browser remembers between visits; they are not an automated accessibility overlay and they do not alter the underlying semantics of the page.

Measures we take

  • Semantic HTML and a logical heading structure on every page.
  • Full keyboard operability, with a visible focus indicator and a skip-to-content link.
  • Color contrast meeting WCAG AA in both light and dark themes, with a high-contrast option.
  • Respect for the prefers-reduced-motion setting; animations are reduced or removed for users who request it, at the OS level or via the Assistant.
  • Text alternatives for meaningful images and icons; decorative elements hidden from assistive technology.
  • Responsive layouts that reflow without loss of content down to small viewports and up to 200% zoom.

Limitations and feedback

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. If you encounter a barrier, please email mail [at] shemim.org with the page and the problem, and we will work to fix it and provide the information in an accessible form.

A sweet fragrant breeze.
